Area IX strives to
assist directors and ringers alike. In addition to the
education article in the quarterly newsletter Ringing News, Area IX
offers the following educational services.
MENTOR PROGRAM
If you are new to directing a handbell choir, Area IX can pair you with an
experienced director to help you. Simply
fill out our online form or contact the Coordinator at membership@areaix.org.
If you would like to offer your services as a Mentor in the program, please
click here to fill out our Mentor application form.
If you think you would benefit from a more experienced ringer, contact the
Education Coordinator at
membership@areaix.org as well.
CHIME LOAN PROGRAM

Area IX has now had its Chime Loan program in place for three years, and it has
been a great success! In the 2006-2007 school year we have been proud to loan a
set of handchimes to Michael Jimenez at Kirkpatrick Middle School in Fort Worth, TX
and Melody Long at Bryker Woods Elementary School in Austin, Tx. With the loan of a
three-octave set of handchimes, loan recipients also receive educational
materials, support from a mentor, and a one-year membership to the American
Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR).
Any organization within Area IX boundaries (Texas and
Oklahoma) is eligible to apply for this program. AGEHR membership is not a requirement. Although
preference will be given to schools, any organization will be considered. If
selected, Area IX will loan to your organization a three-octave set of handchimes for the next school year. Educational material, support from a
mentor, and a one-year membership to the AGEHR will also be provided. To read
some testimonials from previous recipients and mentors about our chime loan
program, please click here.

TEMPO SETTERS VIDEOTAPES

A series of videotapes has been produced for the use of AGEHR members. These
tapes feature interviews with and about many of the AGEHR's Past Presidents and
Honorary Life Members. They are a great source of information, not only about
the beginning of AGEHR and its development through the years, but also about the
personalities and participation of these leaders and their contributions to the
art of handbells.
